A Commitment to Free Expression

Crypto Highlander publishes from a deep and sincere belief in the First Amendment to the United States Constitution, and in the freedoms of speech and of the press it guarantees. We think those freedoms are worth celebrating, not just tolerating. The right to write, to publish, to question authority, and to share an opinion without asking permission first is one of the great achievements of American self-government, and it is a privilege we do not take lightly.

That belief is not incidental to what we cover here. The technology this site writes about, open, permissionless, decentralized networks that nobody can switch off or edit after the fact, is animated by the same instinct that produced the First Amendment: that ideas and information travel best when no single gatekeeper controls them. A free press and a free network both rest on the same premise, that people are capable of hearing competing claims, weighing the evidence, and deciding for themselves.

We publish analysis, criticism, and opinion here, including pieces readers will not always agree with, and including close looks at regulation, government policy, and power. We think that is exactly what a free press is for, and we intend to keep doing it that way.
